Hiking in Tenerife - the fascinating island for hiking

Tenerife is the biggest and most populous island of the Canary Islands. The volcanic island, with its fascinating landscapes and the mild temperatures, is perfect for hiking holidays.
Jagged lava formations, amazing forests, flora and fauna invite you to go hiking in Tenerife. Many indigenous plants, such as the Canarian pine tree, are protected. You can experience the diversity and the beauty of the landscape and get to know the inhabitants of the island.
Tenerife has many beautiful hiking areas. Popular routes in the North are for example the Organos-trail and the La Ladera de Güimar. Experience the wonderful nature and enjoy the breathtaking views.
In the hiking area "Isla Baja“, you can hike through the Teno mountain range and listen to the sound of the sea. You walk past small towns and mountain villages and in this way you can experience the country.
The National Park called "Canadas del Teide“ offers such a huge variety of hikes, that it takes about a week to see the whole area.
The south of the island has also popular hiking routes. You can for example go hiking near San Lorenzo and enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of Tenerife's south, or you can go on a hike in the Anaga mountain range, which is well-liked because of its forests with laurel and pine trees.
The best-known hiking routes are the Masca hike (a route through Masca), the hiking route to the Paisaje Lunar (white lunar landscape) and the Masca gorge hike (which is a route through the gorge of Masca).
Note: Before starting, please make sure that you wear the right clothes and shoes. In high ground you might need sun protection but also sometimes warm clothes, that depends on the season.
