The town ofPlaya de la Arena, which has a beach with the same name, is situated in the south-west and belongs to the community of Santiago del Teide.
North of Playa de la Arena, there is Los Gigantes with its impressive steep coast, and a bit higher, the Teno mountain range starts. Eastwards there is the Teide National Park. So it’s an ideal starting point to the hiking areas in the Teno mountains.
The town has been growing during the last few years, so that it almost became a community with Puerto de Santiago, Playa La Arena and Los Gigantes. Here you can find normal, quiet tourism.
Playa de la Arena is known for its black, nice sandy beach. There are many small bars, restaurants and shops. Here you can go hiking or just go for a walk along the partly jagged coastline.
The golf course Abama, which is situated southwards, can be reached within a few minutes drive.
La Arena is adjoined by the town of Puerto de Santiago.
